Honestly, don’t overthink a career gap — almost everyone has one now. You don’t need to justify it like a court case. Just acknowledge it simply, own it, and move on. A line like “took a short career pause to reset and realign professionally” is more than enough. The key is to not sound apologetic or defensive. Shift the focus quickly to what you bring now — your skills, results, and readiness. Recruiters aren’t scared of gaps; they’re confused by vague or awkward explanations. Be clear, calm, and forward-looking, and the gap stops being a big deal altogether. If you have upskilled in this period, use it as a plus. If you haven't, try getting some free AI certifications at least in the interim period as you continue to apply. This shows effort.
