Career Crossroads: Please Guide

Hi everyone, I need some genuine advice.

I’m currently working as an APM in Bangalore. While the work is okay, I’m not very excited about it, and the pay is just average. My Product Head keeps assuring me that my role and salary will improve, but there’s no concrete timeline.

Meanwhile, I started exploring other opportunities and got a really good offer — the kind of offer my current company can’t match. However, the new role has a catch: it’s with a company focused on building products for internal teams, solving backend problems with little to no UI or frontend work. My concern is whether this experience will limit my chances of moving into a good B2C company in the future.

Should I stick it out in my current role and wait for things to improve, or take the leap and accept the new offer? Any advice would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance!

You should take the new offer if it aligns with your career growth and financial goals. Backend-focused roles can still add valuable skills, especially problem-solving and product delivery expertise. Make sure you diversify your skills on the side, keeping B2C options open. Growth often requires taking calculated risks.

Thanks for your valuable help. How do I make sure to keep B2C options open while working on backend and highly logical driven products with next to zero UI constructs.

All major product companies have tons of internal products / tools , don't look at it as drawback.
