Career advice needed: Tableau Developer vs Appian after 3 years experience?
Hi everyone,
I have around 3 years of IT experience (mostly in my current company’s tech stack), and I’m at a point where I want to shift my domain for better growth and future opportunities.
Right now, I’m confused between:
• Tableau Developer (Data Visualization / BI) • Appian Development (Low-code BPM / Automation)
My main concerns are:
• Long-term career growth • Demand in the job market (India + abroad if possible) • Learning curve and future relevance • Salary and role stability over the next 5–10 years
I’m willing to learn from scratch and put in the effort, but I don’t want to end up in a niche that has limited opportunities later.
For people who are already working in Tableau / BI or Appian, or who have seen both domains closely:
• Which one would you recommend switching to at this stage? • Which domain has better future prospects? • Anything you wish you knew before choosing your path?
Any advice, personal experience, or reality checks would really help.
Thanks in advance 🙏
