Career advice needed

Hi fellow grapviners,

I need some career advice.

I was working as a sse at product firm recently laid off after 6 months ( tc- 38). Also was laid off from last role (hft quant dev) after ~ 6 months of work. Two layoffs in 3 yrs( same reason - “code quality”), so seems like coding thing isn’t working well.

Other experience:- Startup- software role ~ 1 yr Mid size edtech- product/ tech role - 2.5 yrs ( the longest!)

Total experience ~4.2 yrs

What would be the best career choice rn?

Prepare and Look for software roles only
Prepare and switch back to product role
Try for mba!

What does self evaluation say about your coding skills? And are you interested in it?
Coz it can be learnt and improved. Maybe you are at the jobs where the expectations are more, try some tier2 product based company maybe, then you might see poor coders than you or you will learn at a matching pace probably

Having solved 1000+ majorly medium problems on lc and having cracked 3-4 job offers (overall ). I’d say I’m pretty good at clearing interviews. But the actual job differs by a lot.

How do option 1 and option 2 vary? Software role Vs product role?🤔

Software roles are pure coding roles. Product roles involve attending planning product roadmap and developing the product end to end more like a product developer sort of ( some coding / not much)
