Career advice needed

Hi all,

I am a student from India, worked at a big US based MNC and then in thought of masters I resigned. Later thought of doing job again, couldn't get any good offer. After 6 months got an offer from a very early stage startup but within 2 months they laid me off saying I'm not collaborative and impolite. They lied about lot of policies including leaves, when I took leaves for my health and other reasons, manager said I've been most senior employee and never took these many leaves and all. He once said in a meeting, take 1 werk prior approval before any leave, and before getting sick also( I thought it was a joke). They didn't give me laptop for straight 2 months, kept saying that it'll come in a couple days. One day my laptop storage got full, manager took my personal laptop (which he has no right to access) and started to check where is most storage full, then told me to delete large videos and movies. And upload rest on gdrive, some deployment was pending from my side so he said do whatever and complete it by tomorrow. I said I won't do this, give me laptop. Other members also kept saying "startups me ekdam se ni hota kuch, adjust kro". I mean it's been 2 months, and issue came then only I'm asking for it.🤷🏻‍♀️ Later they gave me an EC2 instance to ssh in and complete deployment. And not coincidentally after 2 days laptop arrived (I mean how is it possible). They didn't order the laptop until I went angry, before joining I confirmed that if they'll give laptop. CTO said yes, we've ordered it(after I accepted offer). We can't send it, once you join inofice we'll handover it to you. Weeks passed, months passed, he kept saying we've ordered very specific custom laptop so it's taking time. And look I got M4 air 8gb/256gb. They're big liars and bastards. I'm happy to leave them anyway.

Now I am starting fresh, not including their experience in my profile. I have 1+ yrs of experience at a very good MNC, but want to do masters as well. Shall I do masters or find a job(which seems very tough in today's market). I have some startup ideas as well, shall I consider MBA finance or something else?

  1. Job First: Leverage your 1+ YOE at the MNC to secure a stable role (ignore the startup blip). Target mid-sized firms—they hire faster than early-stage startups.
  2. Masters Later: If set on higher education, opt for MS in CS/Data Science (better ROI than MBA for tech roles).
  3. Startup Caution: Validate ideas via freelancing/part-time first.

I've been trying at so many companies but couldn't get shortlisted at any, maybe due to gap🥲

One more thing to add: The project I was working on was a new and independent one, I was asked the problem statement in the interview. I answered it well and they said you'll have to implement it as your first piece of work. I did so, but the algorithm needed to be more specific to usecase, my senior said he'll do that. I said fine, he took more than 1 month and still incompleted. I deployed whatever I had written, waited for 2 weeks but he still didn't complete that. Now at the time of my termination, manager said you couldn't complete a single project in 2 months, I mean what's the point of saying that. I had done my part, the only mistake is of that senior who still didn't complete his part(he only took it).

I hate them, their fkin culture and the dirty politics they played. I wish nobody works there.
