Cannot take out Indianness out of Indians

This family friend who has been in Canada for 10 year, got his PR Comes to meet us, comments on how mom has lost weight, advises me to see a doctor for back pain

Why are we Indians habited to give unsolicited advice or comment on someone's appearance?

I was reminded of this incident seeing the comments on Ira Khan's wedding pictures (Aamir's daughter) People have unleased everything in mind

Who are they to decide right and wrong for someone else

But they're using pretty objective measures like weight. It's fact based not feeling based.

I think the family friend getting a PR was irrelevant in this description😂 Not minding one's own business is a very common Indian mentality especially in the older generations

This was to highlight he has seen enough of west to not be Indian like this

I have seen that only the generation which was born and brought up abroad are more westernized. For people who immigrated after studies etc. their mentality and thinking has already set in by the time they leave India.

I mean, it is the first thing one notices about someone else, so I get where it comes from. And we're a more upfront class of people vs the west (where people are more sensitized about body talk)

So I get it to some extent, unless it's done with a bad intention

Hope they brought some chocolates. Else this meeting has negative ROI.

@BrisbaneBunny They got teeny tiny chocolates and lollipops that toddlers eat

Should’ve not got anything tbh

Unsolicited or not, take the advice. Some things need to be said - without unwanted external feedback, we get locked in our echo chamber. I appreciate if people care enough to advise me. I don't get what's the big deal.

My wife however...

You are literally using an anonymous platform commenting on other people's posts and you have problems with other people giving unsolicited advice?

Irony has left the chat.

People here ASK for advice, I didn't
You see the irony now?
