@DeterminedDemand not unless you are going for further studies or there is a medical reason. However the bench reason may* work. Talk to your BU HR and do not hesitate to go up the ladder if there is no luck.

Being on bench might help in early release, but it's not guaranteed. Best to talk to your manager about it.
