Can the manager force me to take a project?

The manager of my unit is trying to force a project on me which I don't want to work on...can i go on rejecting? If necessary can i leave the unit at will?

Don't worry about PIP . Its not what people here keep saying.

No one putting you on PIP

Talk to the manager explain your reason why you don't want to take project and see how he reacts . Hopefully he will let you go
