Can Repeated Mistakes Lead to PIP in TCS, What Happens Next?
I’m working in TCS with ~9 months total experience, currently in a support project (~3 months).
I’ve made multiple operational mistakes over time (mostly around missing checks, early triggers, etc.), and recently made another one.
After that, my TL asked me to apply LWP and gave a strict warning that if I repeat this again, he’ll make sure I’m out of the company.
My question is specifically about what happens next in such situations:
-
Can a TL actually push me into PIP based on repeated operational errors?
-
If I get put on PIP, is it basically a guaranteed exit, or can you come out of it and continue in the same project?
-
Is it possible that instead of termination, I get released from the project and moved to RMG (bench) to find another project?
Looking for people who’ve actually seen or experienced this in TCS or similar service companies.

If you are a fresher no worries then ask for release. You can find a job better suited for yourself.
That being said there are alot of policy changes happening so ensure to keep everything documented.
PIP does not mean guaranteed exit for Freshers but for folks with exp it is a bad sign.
Plus management can do anything they want if they have backing from upper management so check that out as well. Otherwise like the other dude told they cant do jack.

Was it a bad idea that I applied LWP? I can still cancel it, it's been a few hours. I can cancel it and not apply. But then my TL will most probably do a HR escalation, should I go that way?

Relax brother, your team leader cannot ask you for resign, even if u stop doing work they cannot terminate you
Also for freshers TCS does not put on PIP.
ASK YOUR MANAGER THAT THIS PROJECT DOES NOT ALIGN WITH YOUR SKILLS AND THAT'S WHY MISTAKES ARE HAPPENING SO GIVE RELEASE.
THEY CANNOT PUT FRESHER ON PIP.
