Can Production Support Analyst be considered as a SDE?

Hi guys, what are your views on production support roles?

1. What are the opportunities to learn and grow in such roles? 2.Can you consider someone in a production support role equivalent to a SDE if their work revolves around automating processes using scripts which involve using data structures to solve problems in Bash, PowerShell, Python, MySQL and Angular?
