Can LOP will work for release

Initially they tagged me to the account by saying an onsite role and now after getting a visa they are saying no onsite opportunity now..they may give next year tentatively which is still not confirmed in written communication. What if I go for LOP for 2 to 3 months.. Will they release me ? The manager is not good at always fighting and arguing with me and not listening to my concerns I am not willing to continue here anymore
