It’s not just about a bidding war. If a candidate does this, you can assume that the candidate may eventually leave if they get a better offer elsewhere after a few months. Basically, you lose trust in the candidate.

That too. Unless they're hella desperate this rarely works after acceptance. Before acceptance several companies will take it into consideration unless they have no bidding war diktats.

That’s how you actually get better offers but the market right now isn’t so forgiving for companies to counter an opposing offer
