Can i leave a role, and find some interesting opportunity during my notice period?

I’m having a terrible time with my current role and company. I've a joining bonus, which i'll have to return in case i quit within 18mos, but i'm so done, and ready to return the amount.

Hiring market isn't great right now, and looks like it will remain like this for next 6-8mos. I don't want a hike in my next role, just a decent wlb, and a good boss.

What should i do? my notice period would be in range of 20-40 days, depending on how my manager reacts.

Here:

  • Agree markets are terrible, and finding a good high paying role would extremely be difficult.
  • Assuming you're a new grad, who just joined the company, you would end up competing with new grads
  • You would definitely lose leverage in your next negotiation if they get a hint that you have nothing lined up after this

Overall a risky manoeuvre in this market. Be careful
