Can companies revoke offer letter before joining ?

How often does this happen and is there anything one can do to deal with it legally ?

Ps - Recently got an offer but now the company has again started hiring for the same role. Not sure if it is for an additional position.

Can they? Yes. Do they? Usually no, unless there are layoffs.

In this case I don't think you need to worry much.

Thanks for the response. The hike I've asked, it's at a higher end than the market standards, so a bit dubious about the whole thing

It’s legal. However they don’t practice it unless there’s an issue with your application (background checks) or with the position itself. Companies can have multiple roles. They don’t have the time to follow every employee in the book.

Yes they can, yes it's legal, yes it can be an additional position.

I was told it's not legal , once offered cannot be revoked. I heard it from the horse mouth
