Camping and tenting

Hello GV's. I am planning for a trek this weekend with my fellow guys. As we are new to camping on our own, is there a good place to start exploring with? All I can browse for is advertisers who arrange their own trek. Does anyone have any camping trekking experiences? Which place to go for.. we shortlisted a few: Kotagiri, Kopatty, Gatikallu. But where to start the trail with and can we start the trek, ascend and descend to the same place where we park our cars? Any leads on this is much appreciated :)
