C3B to C4

How easy/difficult will it be to secure this grade promotion?

I joined as a lateral two years back and have about 17 years of experience now.

Aligned with the customer team and have very low visibility in TCS hierarchy, hence stuck with B BAND for the last two cycles.

Any suggestions feedback on this?

Securing a C3B to C4 promotion in TCS? It's like trying to squeeze water from a rock. You're stuck in the B Band? Welcome to the club, my friend. But remember, even a snail reached the ark. So, how about you start making some noise in the hierarchy? "Jo dikhta hai, woh bikta hai", isn't it?

It depends a lot on what your role is at the moment . If you are focused mostly as a technical architect , movement to C4 might be a multi-year affair easily taking 5-6 years or more . If your role is more of consulting / sales function or delivery management of a portfolio , it might have a earlier trajectory dependent on how much value you bring to TCS and your account ( increase in net value addition of account revenue , RFP participation and wins , new clients / projects onboarded and so on)
