ITA promotion could be raised at the last quarter of your 3rd year. That means, by the time you completes 4 years, you could have got the promotion.

And yes it should be raised by your manager. And you need to follow up. If you are not promoted, keep on checking with your manager to raise again or to push again. Unless, we ask, nothing will happen.

No matter if you change project, it can be done if your manager is willing to. Mostly in this case, they see your performance in the project and raise it along with the other folks expecting ITA in the team. Nevertheless, they could raise it as soon as you are onboarded onto the project.

Thanks for the explanation. What is the selection criteria, if I may ask. What parameters do they look at? Who will I be compared to, just others in my project who also raised for their promotions? Or unit level? Who are the approving authorities? Who has the final say? What should I optimize for? Sorry for so many questions, just extremely curious

Does compliance with WFO affect our chances of getting promoted? I have hit 4+ rating all 4 years, 2 consecutive band As, 1 band B, have multiple appreciation testimonials from the client, worked on additional projects for TCS apart from working fir the client. In the end, the manager is saying they have raised the request. Funny thing is they blame the HR for not approving the request and the HR says it’s the managers who have full control on the promotion process. Realised that working honestly in TCS is a joke. One has to kiss the manager’s ass to get a promotion. Wanna get out of this shithole ASAP.

Ask your manager, s(he) will initiate.

4+ rating will make it easy.

360d feedback is there, keep that updated!

Initiating is task of mgr but closure is on u.

All this can be done at speed>performance management

I've had 4+ for last 2 years. Both times B bands. Digital qualified.
My main question is, since I changed my project just few days ago. Does the new manager have the right to initiate? How involved is manager in this process overall? Should my manager vouch for me? Will he just initiate and then somehow I have to follow up? What's the end to end process, if I may ask.
Sorry for so many questions. Hope you don't mind. I'm just eager to know the entire process. 😊

This could only be said by your manager as there is no hard rules here.

4 years minimum I guess, I asked after 3 years, manager said promotion to IT analyst only after 4 years
