I don’t see the problem with this, as long as there is cause for suspicion. Just like they can raid a house or office, I feel they should be able to raid online spaces.
The problem is with the implementation and corruption. If the government had shown us anything, it’s that it is incompetent at implementing most of the things and preventing corruption.

Not at all. At the end of the day, powerful and money making people will be always left free, it will be always the less income group people who will aways be in surveillance.
Unlimited power in the hands of Govt is never good, specially when there is no law to punish the wrongdoer. For ex, thousands of Aadhaar data got leaked, what did Govt do? Nothing. Govt came out recently with privacy law, which is toothless. Is there any provision that Govt will automatically lodge case against Aadhaar leaking websites or organisations? Is there any provision that a common man can lodge a fraud case online against such privacy leaks, and it can be taken to conclusion with some hard punishment? None.
Government is acting like terrorist 🙄

The reason you didnt even care enough to read the context as to why and what was added, is the reason why dim supporters like you support your iq level politician who is close to a century of losses.
This news is a classic case of fear mongering. The new addition is just an extension of the old act where in, if a person is suspected of hiding money, the authorities have a right to break into cupboards, search lockers, suitcases etc and now they added a clause where online accounts can also be acceseed. This usually requires IT commissioner level approvals and only 'Harshad mehta' folks should be concerned about this.
Will this also apply to Adani/Ambani ?
This Govt is always on anti-privacy crusade. Right from Aadhaar, to this, they keep doing this. I wish this gets challenged in Supreme Court. But then I don’t have much hope, because people keep emboldening this Govt with votes. Even in Aadhaar case, even after so many debacles in past in SC, recently they again did something similar- okayed use of Aadhaar by private players- which was explicitly denied in Supreme Court earlier. Shameless Govt, keeps getting slapped by Court, and yet keeps going ahead to do the same privacy invading illegal things

I wish people had access to Govt. official's social media accounts, emails, investments so that we can find out who is involved in corruption.
