Business Roles Post 30

Wondering what roles do folks in business roles take up post their early 30s when they’re likely to have already served top managerial positions? I see very few people moving to higher positions within organisations (directorial/business head). What do the rest do? And, are there any roles that provide any semblance of work life balance?
