Business Ethics

Searched the archives, but I can't find a single post questioning your/other companies' business ethics..

Everyone talks about ethics during hiring, people management, etc.

But has anyone here actually analysed their employee's business, business model, etc, and dug out their business ethics.

After 10 years and being financially independent is when I realise a few of us start thinking about it. Till then it's only about paisa, job, marriage. After that life gets too hectic to spend time about the real-world impact of your work and your employer.

What do you do when you disagree with something strongly at an ethical level?

I've moved teams, and companies, when I've had the luxury of moving. But during hiring downturns, it becomes a difficult choice to make.

E.g. dark patterns in companies like zepto, fintech misselling, Ecom companies not treating delivery/warehouse partners well.

I've thought about joining folks who run truly ethical business processes, but the few I've seen are too small to join at a reasonable pay.

I'm currently working on a project for coca cola , but it did wrench my guts when I was told to join.

I know that coke is more of a marketing company rather than a beverage. But I can hardly do anything about it

Ethics can never be built into a business separately. It has to be built into the society. unless people in their daily activities as part of the society see ethical behavior as a basic etiquette, it will never translate into the dealing as a business organization.

We are no longer ethical in our regular life. A ethical business is a myth.
