They are implementing US-like emergency alert system

I've only received SMSes that a test alarm would ring, heard none so far. I'm on Android 10, feeling sad.

I was at an event where this went off during the keynote. Hilarity ensued.

I was in the middle of a kidnapping session, my kidnapee saw me and ran away because of this alert. The government made me lose my business today.

This is a global best practice. Afaik, the tech is cell broadcast where all mobile users latched on the cell network in a particular area get the message. No opt in is reqd.

Very useful in case of floods, fire, rains etc in remote areas.
