Break for 2 months
I am thinking to take a break for 2 months and leave my job. I know that I don’t want to continue here, its like I am counting my days here. I can’t prepare for any other job while being in this job. It is too much work and affecting me mentally. Thinking to take a break and do nothing in the initial days just to take some days of rest. Then can start preparing for jobs. Will this cause any issue in getting jobs? Also I don’t have these many leaves to take a long leave and come back. So no considering that an option.

Few things from me. I have taken a career break with no clarity on what to do next and I hope my two cents helps.
- It's completely ok to take a career break for a few months and figure out. That's a best thing you can do to yourself.
- Hope your finances are sorted. Like you have a runway for 6 months - 1 year saved up.
- A career is something that pans for about 30 - 40 years. In a short term view, 3 months break can feel like so much. In a long enough time frame that's nothing.
- On the question of if the career break would affect the future opportunities. I was recently chatting with a friend who had the same question. My answer is I don't want to work for someone who thinks career break is factor for hiring!
- If you are burnt out, you are at this point for a reason and most times, getting out of the place is necessary for clarity building.
- Probably you had worked for a few years now and you have some skills. With all of this can't a land a single job in a world in the next 6 months? Almost most of us can :)

Those are some very valid points. To add to that, I would not recommend taking a career break if you have less than 4 Yoe. Take leave without pay if that's an option.

Then I think you have finances and other things sorted out, It would be okay to take a 3-4 month gap. Also access what's the demand of your skillset.

Can you consider taking a leave without pay. I would recommend take an idea of current job market before quitting the one you have in hand. Currently the job market is very competitive and you may end up in more stressful situation.
Btw all the best for your future and recover soon!

Thanks for the advice. Yeah you are right, I should take an idea of the current job market.

Take atleast 2 weeks leave, search for jobs, apply in atleast 50 firms. Once you have a fair idea about job market then you can take a call.

Don't leave without an offer rn , market is tough , do quiet quitting and prepare or apply in weekends, say you have notice period of 30 days in interviews to get more calls.
If not take a vacation with loss of pay saying some emergency and come back recharged.
