Having a custom website doesnt make you a web developer. There are so many no code options which have become an industry standard. What he is saying is just outdated and misinforming his blind mentees
There is no harm in having behance or pdf but saying such things causes harm
Its all good man. A decent clean homepage, and the quality of content in portfolio matters a lot more.
Having said that - there are some crazy portfolio website that invests a ton of time - which showcases their aesthetic sense, style and a lot more. That has value as well.
While I don’t know the influencer - I guess even my advise would be to focus on quality of design you do at your work, investing time in the narrative of your case studies and most importantly learning to articulate your design journey. Rest is just white noise.
