Billable people are safe ?

Heard lot of people saying that even billable people are not safe they are going to replace them with lesser experience person !! My only question is client takes interview before they onboard any resources so are they going to take such risk ? What if client reject the profile willl thr be 4 profiles for one spot ? Is this really a smart move in any sense ? I believe people who are in billable position will not be touched specially for those clients whose on boarding process is tough . Doesn't matter if the person is WFH or WFO or non complaint to WFO.

See right now there will be FUD and speculations. Let's just see how things will pan out. We can never be sure about anything. All we know is they have announced they will lay off 2% people for now. We aren't even sure whether they will stop at 2%.

If they discover 2% is not enough then I am pretty sure they would target people in projects next. Being this organisation we never know how or what criteria they use to drop people.

All I can say with certainty is it is best to remain compliant, upskill fast, and be really good at a niche space and leverage that as the best MOAT one can have.

See, problem is client wants that associate should be able to write the code for rocket launch single handily and interviews accordingly, but while billling says that associate should be using gen ai to finish it in a day.

So tcs will say if gen ai is to be used, why the interview?

Of course, neither client nor manager has any experience with genAi to understand what code it writes.
