Bike vs activa

I’m finally getting my first vehicle

I’ve always had my heart set on the Royal Enfield Meteor 350 that’s been the dream for a long time. But now that I’ve switched jobs and my office is in BCIT (around 20 km one way from HSR), I’m a bit torn.

It’s a classic heart vs. mind decision — Do I go with the Meteor 350, the one I’ve always wanted? Or be practical and get a Honda Activa, which makes more sense for daily Bangalore traffic, saves on fuel and maintenance, and leaves room to spend on other experiences?

What would you have done go with the dream or the practical choice?

I highly recommend you go for the Activa for your choice. I stayed in HSR, used to commute 20 kms everyday on a bike and it was a pain pulling the clutch. Moreover, the Meteor would heat up pretty bad in there traffic and there are no roads to enjoy the ride. The clutch gets harder when it heats in such stop-go traffic for any bike and balancing on such roads when you are tired with that clutch will be an everyday challenge.

A practical approach would be to rent a meteor 350 for weekend outings for your enjoyment. The activa can give u ease of life, good storage space for space item purchases, helmet storage (beware of theft and wet helmets in rain while parked).

In bangalore, with an okay charging infra, you can get an electric scooty like an Ather, Ola or something to make your life even easier if u choose. But, ignore if u have range anxiety or wouldn't like overnight charging or your home/office do not have the charging facility.

That’s actually a really practical perspective I really appreciate you sharing your experience! 🙏🏻

I was thinking the same, but the daily commute of 40 km and especially in the rain with a meteor is a pain I feel 😞

Given the distance you'd be traveling I'd say the Meteor would be a smoother experience if you don't mind the higher fuel bills. Better suspension and larger wheels are what you need for Bangalore roads.
