Biggest culture shock moving from service to product?
I spent 4 years in a mass recruiter service company. Just joined a product org adn the culture shock is insane.
First week here, I asked my manager if I can log out at 6 PM for a doctor's appointment. He looked at me like I was crazy and said, "Why are you asking me? Just block your calendar."
In my old company, if your swipe-in time was 9:15 instead of 9:00, HR would deduct half-day pay. We literally had to beg "Sir/Madam" for leaves.
Here, nobody gives a shit about timesheets or 9-hour strict login rules. They only care if your PR is merged.
Service companies really traumatize you into thinking you're a bonded laborer. It took me a month to stop calling my tech lead "Sir".

Non Tech here. My previous organisation, which is global service based in ops/compliances, was much better in terms of chill ness, you come after 1hr of shift start, nobody gives a shit. Take leaves anytime.
After that I joined a Product based, here though pay is better but feels much strictnes here.

Yes

What mass recruiter company does that?
