Yesterday, the Ola founder released a bunch of LLMs under the Krutrim project, with a claim and a promise to be as good as, or better than, global LLMs. All open source. The focus is on localizing AI for an Indian audience and their day to day applications of AI.

Tall claims by Bhavish as usual. However I am supporting him because building AI infrastructure in India is important, If Krutrim 2 is truly independent, it marks progress toward indigenous AI.
I think he meant they will open source small models like he mentioned the 7B one ( which I'm not sure they build ground up or distilled another open source model).
The one on their site is still probably a chatgpt wrapper.
