Bengaluru: Where Time Commutes Longer Than You Do

Long ago there was a peaceful city called Bendakaaluru where people reached on time and roads were straight. The gods blessed it with jobs, startups, and endless cups of coffee, and the city grew too fast. The Goddess of Roads bent the streets into loops, flyovers, and sudden diversions for her amusement. The Rain God added surprise showers timed perfectly to catch people without umbrellas. The Spirit of Traffic slowed time itself so that 5 km felt like a short journey through one’s life choices. An Auto Deity appeared, agreed to every ride, and then quoted fares based on mood and weather. The Tech Sages created maps to guide the people, but the maps learned to tell stories instead of truth. Soon, everyone began saying “I’m on the way” while still mentally inside their homes. Once in a rare while, the city becomes calm, the roads clear, and people arrive on time. No one believes these witnesses, because miracles in Bengaluru are never recorded on Google Maps.

How was it? Would love to hear more about how Bangalore was back then...

"once in a rare while" is during festivals when people head back to their respective hometowns and let the city breath.

Blaming outsiders always. Strange, it's the government who fucked the city and guess what who's responsible for government in democracy,
Voters
And guess what, who are the majority voters,
Locals.
So who's responsible for the dire state of this beauty

Could relate to it so much. I just can't believe what this city has become. I still remember how even areas like JP nagar were back in 2005, when I was in school. It's completely different now filled with pubs and restaurants. Heck, indranagar has become totally unrecognisable.
All my friends share the same feeling. We saw this city become a garbage dump right in front of our eyes.
Most of my friends are abroad today and some of us have come back, but whenever we meet, it's just us talking about how things were back in the day.

There's nothing that can be done. Just accept it and move on...

That was one heck of a poetic outlook on our mundane robotic lives in Bengaluru, that once lived with purpose and intentionality in life.

It's the situation of every city in the world where governments get too greedy.

Poor infra is the problem, which is because of corrupt people filling their pockets.

Someone gave land and permission to build 10 tech parks and 100 societies on 2 lane road, even those have potholes.

You are a local or outsider - both are equally responsible. Neither wants such life, especially after paying in crores of taxes.

I remember delhi used to be in the same situation where bangalore is today. Traffic all the way but then there was decongestion plans and flyovers were built over every chokepoint .
