Bench policy in TCS
I heard that if some employees are on the bench for more than two months, they are asked to resign, or else RMG may proceed with termination. Does RMG actually have the authority to terminate or ask someone to resign?
Also, what is the official bench period in TCS? Is there any formal or verbal communication regarding the duration of the bench period?
If RMG forces me to resign after just two months on the bench, can I escalate this issue to HR?
Need valid suggestion urgently.

Why you want to be on bench for more than 2 months?.. Get the project asap

I dont want to be on bench . But it seems RMGs are not doing there work property. They are not giving appropriate skill details to projects ,which we have given to them to get into a project .
Tester are getting calls for development roles . And once they say they don’t have experience in development, then by default that project is rejecting us to take …
And developers are getting support calls .. and visa Vera …
So even though we are getting project calls but that calls are irrelevant. So bench period is gradually increasing.

When you are on bench you get email from RMG to share your details , remarks etc . You can provide your details there. You can mention your preference in remarks too. Those emails then get forwarded to project manager who post relevant requirement. RMG do their job nicely as I experienced the same. I was on bench and reporting to RMG, when I wasn't getting enough call they shared my resume in war room and I got multiple calls in single day and within a week I got relevant project. So try to reply all RMG mails and share your correct details/skillsets with them. Don't be on bench for longer period as it will make you lazy and vulnerable.
