Trending @Capgemini; Being pregnant in Indian offices is a special kind of torture
I'm weeks away from giving birth and this fucking company keeps me anxious about job security. I'm exhausted from both the pregnancy and my demanding job, where I spend my days just crying.
Recently, I explained to a client how we handle projects, which they didn't like since it differed from what sales had promised. Now, I'm being blamed for "ruining the client relationship" and fear they might build a case to fire me before my maternity leave.
To make matters worse, a male team member revealed my pregnancy to the client without my consent, making me feel exposed and vulnerable.
I've tried to protect my peace during this pregnancy, telling only family and close friends, and this has added stress.
What should I do?

Hello, I am a manager and two of my colleagues went on ML so I feel I am qualified to answer here.
First of all don't worry about job security because it is not good for your baby. I am sure you have applied for your maternity leave. If not , kindly apply whenever suitable to you. Now , the ML policy is for 180 days so you get sufficient time to take care of the baby and yourself. In this duration you would be moved to the bench but it doesn't have to do anything with the recent escalation from the client. It is the standard policy.
After completing your ML it depends on your project requirements you might return to the same project or to a new project. Once the ML duration completes you have the option to apply 6 months WFH as per policy.

Hi @FittingFire Great information. May I know what should be the max date before appling to ML or letting your manager know about the pregnency and ML plans in future

Thanks.
ML can be applied anytime from the 7th month of pregnancy onwards. However it is not mandatory to avail from the 7th month itself.
For example , my wife applied only in the 9th month as she was able to manage her work.
Regarding informing the manager, I always suggest informing the manager well in advance so that he may find a suitable replacement or plan the project accordingly. 2 months notice is sufficient.

First and foremost... Take care of you and the little princess/prince, mentally, physiologically, physically.
Second... They cannot fire you based on your pregnancy. Whatever you have informed to the customer is a fact which cannot be denied and cannot be a ground to fire you.
Third... If you are too worried, ask for project release, go on maternity, if required for on sabbatical after maternity leave, search outside CG before your leave ends.
Trust me... You cannot put your personal life at stake for an organization where result matters n people counts.

Hey, i am really sorry you have to face these. There is hardly anyone who is happy and content with this job and this company. I am not sure about other companies but i think the job culture itself is quite toxic now a days. Don't compromise on your health.

I am significantly disappointed in hearing this. I have heard that this has been taken up by leadership now

Take care and getting release from project and being on bench will be the better option for now

This is appalling to say the least! Sensitivity training for everyone is the need of the hour.
If the pressure keeps mounting, please explore opting for early mat-leave. If they create hurdles for that, you can always ask your obstetrician to provide a doctor's note stating yours is a high-risk pregnancy and you are advised rest. The laws mandate a 6 month paid mat-leave and you can go for unpaid extension of 6 months without it reflecting as a break in service record.
Baby and your health is paramount and I pray you find ways to preserve that.

One of my colleague was also on maternity leave and she was moved to bench during her leave period. I hope not but am assuming your manager might do the same. Instead of taking further stress I would suggest you to take release and go to bench because they anyways might do so. Please take care of yourself at such time at priority.

Which BU you are in I can help you

Dont take it personal just go with flow otherwise it will be risk for you and your baby. It is just a job everyone do for money
