basic pay is very less

i notice that my compensation letterhas base pay very less. ny CTC - 19.8 lpa and base pay component its 6.9 lakhs. its at the lower end. just 35 percent of CTC. is there a way we can ask to make adjustments to our compensation letter? i am here with the firm from 2.8yrs now..

Your PF and Gratuity are a % of your base pay. Companies keep the base pay low to reduce their liability.

Plus, your basket of allowances maybe tax exempt. Ex: If you have HRA, you can show rent and reduce your taxable amount. If you move the money allocated to the HRA, you can’t get the exemption and will definitely have to pay tax.
