Sooo I feel like Bangalore is a city that lives on Hype, everyone is just trying to be cool and are too afraid of actually call out stuff for what they are.
Few examples (my personal opinion)
Eat Naru - it’s good ramen, but you can definitely find better or as good (bookings are sold out in minutes) Pizza 4Ps - Average pizza, great hospitality but not worth waiting for a booking a month in advance Ultrahuman ring - It’s not even that accurate for that price March Tee - good T-shirt, but you can find so much better at that price point
I like to call this the Bangalore Hype Train xP

Totally Agree with this, everyone wants to get validation or some kind of approval from ultra rich or dumb influencers, I think it's totally influenced by Tech Cuties mostly from North India working in Startups (HSR, Koramangala). These dumbfucks who never stepped out of their world get excited for silly things, imagine people standing outside a biryani shop at 4am, people standing in a queue sandwich..uff this all insta validation stories matters for them, they seek happiness by impressing or making someone jealous of.

Add mokobara bags and berkinstak footware to list.

Mokobara quality is below average. And price is 3x the competitors

VIP brand for bags/suitcases have been using /hearing them since childhood...no hype, particular traditional business - these startups just over over hype

Heard this kinda crap is not relevant in old bangalore where the natives are much grounded and prefer to indulge in things in old bangalore at darshinis and templles and detest and hate the new bangalore mostly inhibited by the outsiders.

Naru is in Old Bangalore fyi.

In old Bangalore does not mean it's old or is loved by old Bangalore

I'm living at home due to WFH and never ever even heard of anything you just mentioned. Not even from friends living in Blr or on insta. Feels like I'm living in a completely different world.

Yeah same. I live in Blr and never heard of these. 😶

Haha... Same here 🤣

Since I like food, I would like to comment on the places. Both might not be the best out there but they're the best in consistency. Other places are like a hit or miss. One day it's great, other day it's so-so.

True, I’m from Bombay and honestly there are better places which are consistent - but there’s no hype around it as much as Bangalore.

Bastian might be the most hyped place in India. I can definitely name a few more. Every city has the hype train that pushes the agenda of 'if you haven't eaten from here, you have not tried anything'.

Tech crowd of Bangalore is a circlejerk, and tries so hard to be SF/Bay Area.

Not limited to B’lore. Wherever people have more money to spare than any actual use.
