This essay is awesome. But I'm sorry did Paul Graham ever found a company himself in the last 20-30 years?
The app's in beta though, hasn't even launched yet. Dushybag is just being a douchebag here tbh
You're always gonna have pissy customers/users. And the fact that it is in beta is precisely for getting feedback afaik. Now if only we could have positive feedbacks from everyone
But they replied with this only after they shared the blog post with him.
It's fine I guess. They're both looking for attention and they're both getting it. 😊
I've tried it, and was excited based on what it was planned for. As of now, it's a beautifully designed app, with no use.
I mean, it can track spendings, but it's not real-time, with some 12/24hr delay. It doesn't support a good number of banks. For what it does, Fi does it for me, and that too for SBI as well.
The design is worth the hype, nothing against it. But the app is useless for me, at least for the foreseeable future.
Still better than the Dukaan Founder literally abusing customers on twitter https://x.com/hasmukhtweets/status/1697432683453026702
Yeah i wonder how this shit flew under everyone's radar. Crazy
There is plenty of it, just that his luck is good that these guys don’t have enough following. Someone else is accusing him of hit and run.
Why is this app so hyped anyway?
Anyone here who has tried it please share your experience
I used to spend a lot of time on excel to track my expenses. Used to manually go through all accounts and tag and figure out how much i’m spending on what categories. Fold just makes it super easy to do the same thing.
Beta user feedback is not meant to be given in public on twitter. It's meant to be given directly via store review or via some form. Clearly douchebag's intent was to get attention.
Why gatekeep where a review is provided? And even for the malicious intent, it doesn’t excuse the response from the product team.
Why gatekeep? Because by default a trust of forgiveness is placed on a beta user. He broke the beta user code to get reach. It's like me doing user research and you shouting on social media calling my questions dumb.
The product team could've handled it more professionally but any founder would want to thrash such an ill intentioned person. Most don't because it's bad for business. I won't judge them for this but they've put themselves on bad light bcoz they couldn't control.
I am using it. The app and ideas are amazing. But it is ruined by delayed updates from banks. If banks provide realtime data,it will be so easy to track expenses. I put the blame on banks. My bank HDFC fails to sync everyday. Damn banks.
Why real time? Do you actually want to check fold app after every expense? I assumed most people would be like me wanting to track expenses over a week/month
Here Dushyant is clearly being a Dushybag. I use the app and just after surfing for a while you know the current stage, and future roadmaps. They also explain why is it difficult to add new banks.
About Fold, it needs a lot of improvements. It's hyped. You're not missing out on anything if you're not using it apart from good UX, category and filters.
Lol you said the same thing dushyant said except that you try not to hurt the little fold money crybabies. Nobody owes them that.
Update: The company's response on this whole thing:
"Folks, we can put the matter to rest now. Some of our previous tweets were in a very bad taste, things could've been handled in a way more better/wittier way, which was intended, but came out as rude, we're sorry - there's only a human behind this account afterall."

Lol who the hell are they to decide to close the topic now.
