Australia based onshore project opportunity

I joined TCS in July 2024 with the hope of getting opportunities in Australia-based projects, as I recently got married and my husband resides in Australia. Since TCS has a global presence, I believed it would support such aspirations. However, after joining, I was unexpectedly placed in a unit called the BFSI Canada domain.

I was initially allocated to a project within this domain, but was released shortly afterward as they had no available work. When I was on the bench in September 2024, HR and RMG pressured me from day one to get allocated immediately. I started receiving calls from multiple projects, and I informed them all of my intention to eventually move to Australia. Despite this, I accepted a temporary role in a Europe-based project under the AI Cloud unit, as they were okay with me working only until January or February.

After clearing the interview, the AI Cloud project provided all allocation details and requested a go-ahead from RMG. However, RMG and HR refused approval, citing that I belonged to the BFSI Canada domain. Despite initially pushing me to get allocated quickly, they blocked this opportunity and blamed me for proceeding.

Eventually, under continued pressure and harassment, I had no choice but to join another BFSI Canada domain project, where I worked for about four months. From the beginning, I had informed HR and RMG about my intention to relocate to Australia to join my husband, but they clearly stated that the employer’s preference outweighs the employee’s and that they could not accommodate my request.

At one point, I received an email mentioning an Australian project that might offer an onshore opportunity after six months, but this was later denied as well. Eventually, I resigned from TCS after receiving my work visa for Australia. Even post-resignation, I reached out to HR and RMG to ask if there were any immediate Australia-based opportunities available since I didn’t require sponsorship. Unfortunately, there was no support or response from them.

My previous project officially released me on March 31st, and I’ve been on the bench since then. HR and RMG continue to avoid communication and seem to be pushing for an early exit. They’ve also said I’m not eligible for onshore opportunities since I haven’t completed one to two years with TCS. However, there is no clarity in policy—just vague timelines with no official documentation or consistent communication.

Overall, my experience with TCS was extremely disheartening. The lack of transparency, constant harassment, lack of support from HR and RMG, and their rigid internal domain policies made it a very negative experience, especially for someone with clear relocation needs and valid work authorization for Australia.

My suggestion is to go Australia along with your husband and try for a job in Australia

This is how they used to operate. They only share our resumes with other units and accounts. If you find some good opportunities, they are the ones who stop it first. Then why are they sharing our resumes? It’s completely ridiculous. Yes, we have some job security compared to other companies, but getting onsite opportunities or a desired location isn’t easy. There is a way to get into a project — you need to use Knowmax and get the future allocation from the project without going through RMG.

Nothing new these things very common in tcs. Dont worry. Sympathy of people here wont help you much. Better quit the hell and seek other opportunities outside. There are millions of jobs. Best of luck.

There is no proper policy, transparency, no accountability for any queries. All things would route to supervisor, most of the cases either they will pass to other department or not responding. Everything here is just like SBI bank. It is common scenario for most of employees.

Before completing 1 year it's difficult to get onsite projects. To apply intra company transfer visa certain countries requesting minimum 1 year with company for visa approval etc ..i understand your personal situation but you could have stayed for a year before requesting for onshore as one of manager used to say few think TCS it's travel agency
