At career crossroads: Navigating between career switches and a new beginning. Need help. 🆘!!

Hello respected viners,

I'm here to seek your valuable inputs as I stand at the crossroads of my career, finding it hard to make my way through ahead. I am an electronics engineer graduate with a masters in public administration with a NET qualification. I'm currently engaged with a US based social media startup company as a member of their platform safety team for the last 3 years. Now as the company's future looks bleak , I am looking for a job switch and am finding it hard to make a decision.

While I'm looking for a high paid corporate job at first but not yet able to make a choice as in which sector should I move in from here as the traditional media industry isn't that high paying. Here are the options I'm exploring:

Option 1:I have been a civil services aspirant having made my way through the interview stage of state pcs, so that's an option I'm exploring to have a reputed and stable career for myself but the roadblock stands as the stakes are high for me being married and the sole earner in my family ( lost both my parents in the last 2 years)

Option 2: Having a masters degree and NET qualification also make me eligible for an assistant professor job at a university/college , so that's another option I'm looking at.

Option 3: A career in the digital media industry or policy research/public relations etc having a proven experience and capabilities.

Please make sound suggestions based on the above deets so that I could make the right choice for myself and my family. I would be immensely grateful to y'all if I'm able to make the needed landing based on your valuable inputs and guidance.

All your support and suggestions are welcomed🙏

TIA

Given your diverse background, you can consider the below points,

  1. Civil Services: Offers stability and respect but comes with high stakes and long preparation times, especially given your family responsibilities.
  2. Assistant Professor: A stable option, but likely lower-paying than corporate roles.
  3. Digital Media/Policy Research: Leverages your experience and could provide better financial growth and flexibility.

Consider balancing stability with potential earnings.
