Someone I know is pursuing MBA at XLRI, background computer science engineer and a background in sales (~3 years). What steps would you recommend to get into Product Management roles after he completes MBA?

Give Interviews, duh 😂
In seriousness, if In first 20 interviews your friend is able to get offer letters for PM, then great.
If not, then try for business analyst, it's easier to switch from biz analyst to PM. This transition feels natural from a HR's point of view.
