My friend who is pretty careless has broken his laptop. It's not a big crack but a very small piece is missing from the laptop.

Now he got a mail to change his laptop, so will there be any problem while changing. Will they ask to pay money for that.

Yeah, I poured water once and 2nd time it felt from height and broke. But no one ask why and how it happened...they simply replaced it. Beuty of Infy and its employee centric nature

Depends from DC to DC and person to person. Tell them you met with an Accident and they will do it for free of charge. Otherwise ask your manager to mail them in some cases Manager's mail gets your asset replaced for free. If u are very much unlucky then they will ask you to pay.
Just don't accept your mistake, tell them it was an accident. The moment you accepted your mistake then they will ask you to pay.
