Arrange Marriage horror
We've been looking for arrange marriage prospects for my brother for a few months now. He isn't earning a lot but enough to keep a family and is very family-oriented in nature. Hasn't been out of home a lot so he just wanted a simple girl who has basic education and is ok to live with parents.
Recently, we were reached by a family through some mutual relative, biodatas were shared, the girl looked ok, all things matched, her qualifications were B.Com and she had worked for some company for 1 year or so and then left. We thought that it was fine because everything else felt great.
Gradually both of them started talking via WhatsApp. A few days in, my brother felt something was fishy. The girl used to wish him Good Morning irrespective of whether it was morning, afternoon or evening. He isn't some grammar nazi but that felt odd, especially because it wasn't a one time thing, it happened every time. They started talking on call, he grew even more suspicious. She used to ask him if he ate lunch. Again, irrespective of the time of the day they were talking.
It just didn't sit right for someone who has done B.Com, kids know basic greetings and names of meals these days. We enquired a bit and found out that she didn't even clear 10th standard. The marksheet, the degree, the job letter... Everything FAKE. The horror we felt can't be expressed in words. For some time we didn't know whether to laugh at this incident or feel alarmed by it. My father said very good words to the family and the mutual relative, that's a long story for another time.
The point is that Marriage has become a betting game now. However much investigation and all you do, there's still a 50-50 chance you might be duped for life. The problem is that the families are not ready to invest in their child but are fine to fake certificates and degrees to dupe someone else who just wants an honest partner.
Bhai log and behen log, please save yourselves from fraud people and families guys.
Yeah, that one is very old one tbh. But it has gotten far worse today. The worst i heard till now it a guy, after failing to get a child, comes to know after doctor visit that his wife had abortions in the past which was the real cause.
Why people have to try and care too much about English
Oh, you work in an organization and consider worrying about someone not knowing the difference between basic greetings or names of meals in 2026 as "caring too much about English"? I already said that he's not some grammar nazi who wants his partner to speak in British English, but if you consider your partner not knowing even this much is okay, I'm sorry to say but I'm a bit concerned about the future of your kid.
That's very funny. If you are a well to do family, look for families with similar status.
You have better chances of finding authentic people. But you might not get someone agreeing to "staying with the man's parents" thing. So you gotta choose
Although I don't completely disagree with your view that girls from well to do families might not agree to stay with the man's parents because a lot of them don't have a problem with that (atleast initially, later it depends on the man, his parents and the woman). However, my whole point here is that it is still never an excuse for man or woman to cheat with someone's life this way.
