I voted in every election since I became eligible (state and national). Would take a few days off from work and spend thousands to travel to my hometown and vote.

But over the years I have realised that irrespective of who comes to power, they wonโ€™t do shit for us middle class salaried people. We only exist to fund their various schemes for their vote banks.

Hence I no longer care and I have decided not to vote this year.

Don't care anymore.

All politicians are bastards. And my vote has so far changed jack shit.

It is always about the lesser evil. Thatโ€™s the best you get with larger democracy

The middle class is there to fund the rich and poor. No matter whichever party wins, middle class will always be in loss. Hypothetically, if middle class cease to exist, there will be chaos.

Not voting at all. Why?

  1. The wide majority of Indians are uneducated, poor, and do not share the same priorities as me. So my vote is numerically useless.
  2. When every single party is stealing my tax money through corruption, why should I vote? And please don't tell me to choose the "lesser" evil. I don't have to choose between rapists, murderers or at the very least frauds and thieves. Nobody meets the minimum bar of at least being a decent human being.
  3. As a middle class tax payer, I am being milked by every govt. The rich get subsidies, govt favors, can simply generate a lot of black money and get richer. The poor get subsidies because they form a large majority of votes in India. The small percentage of us called the middle class have no political power, and will keep paying higher and higher taxes to run this country.
  4. The party that can outspend everyone else by a large margin wins the election anyway. This is true everywhere in the world, and in India as well.

You think we have a choice? Because of your one vote? Yeah right, enjoy the shan that is modern democracy ๐Ÿ˜‚
