I try to do what my good managers did and try to avoid what bad managers did. Not just recent, all managers from my career inception.

There are two kinds of people in this world- those who face the wrong and perpetrate those same pattern of wrong; and those who face the wrong and take an oath not to perpetrate those wrongs when their time comes. It is always better to be the later kind, though many take the first kind too.
Examples- ragging in colleges and residential schools, you get ragged, and then you decide whether you want to rag ruthlessly or not. Corporate team management, how you handle teams. Family aspects- Facing the toxic culture around, seeing through it, and deciding to learn the same, or deciding to do course-correction. etc etc…
