Are we still slaves who can change their masters aka nations?

2500 BC - Slaves owned by Egyptian Pharaoh were required to pay 20% of their income (crop harvest).

Now - Citizens of a nation are required to pay 20%+ of their income (income tax, goods & services tax, capital gains tax, property tax & more)
