Are we marrying people or job titles
Looked at arranged marriage profiles this weekend.. Working in a quick commerce startup as product manager.
Me: TC - 45 lakhs [35 fixed + 10 ESOPs]
- Saw girls putting designation and company in bold on the first line.
- Mentioned looking for Tier-1 techie or unicorn PM only.
- Had no details about personality apart from CTC expectations.
- Said that my startup ESOPs are worthless. Wanted someone with all cash component.
- Never showed interest in my work stress. Was only concerned if my org will IPO soon.
- My parents think this is normal and wanted me to go ahead.
- But I said No. I never had second opinion or doubts, but treating marriage like a corporate merger makes me sick.
Have decided to delete my profile, can't be a walking ATM.
Is arranged marriages just B2B transactions now? I am kinda worried and feel I am well off single.

Haha good luck with that. At least your HR would understand the work stress and not just care about the fixed component.
Your parents are unfortunately setting you up for a buttfucking, and it's not the kind you are hoping for.
AM is more blunt way of marriage.
Some people treat marriages like transactions. But ignore them. You'll find people who share your values
Be it arranged or love marriage, you will end up with the same stories as others.
Ppl have lots of expectations and that is the main root cause of all bad things happening in the relationship
It could also be a representative of your achievements. Sure jobs are just a part of life. But it takes a lot of discipline, hard work and perseverance to sustain a job and compete in a pool of high achievers who are all positioned in a good company and at a senior level. They say you are the avg of 5-6 people around you. That automatically gives a sense of the person you could be. I am not saying that a good designation is a judge of character. It's not. But it acts as a qualifier sometimes to know that no matter whatever situation life throws at your, you will be able to climb out of it, maybe because of your skills or maybe because of your connections.
