Are Senior Roles More riskier?

Is it true that our jobs get riskier as we get into more senior roles? How does one insulate from it?

Yes.

Much riskier because exit options are limited and you take that much more time to land a new gig, especially in layoff / retrenchment scenarios.

Ref: Average tenure of CEOs in the US is < 3 years. A majority of them get fired.

Junior roles have it easier in getting a new job in quick time as the pyramid is fat at the bottom.

There is not much you can do as risk mitigation. Keep your saw sharp and deliver. Keep the network strong and options open. You aren't married to your job.

It depends on the company and structure. If they have too many people in senior role then it is bound to happen.

Every role has a risk these days. Nothing can insulate your role in the long term.

Just be prepared and don’t get too comfortable in one company.
