Are referrals working in GrapeVine?

I referred a friend of mine to enable the DM feature. But I didn't get the 100 🍇.

Also I'm curious on how the referral works behind the scenes. I've shared the referral link through WhatsApp which has a unique code. This URL directs the user to grapevine and then to the play store/app store. In the redirection to the playstore won't we lose the context of the referral code?
