Are people from lower castes still looked down upon by society inspite of having good education? Is it hinderance for marriage?

Marriages are still largely caste based , community based. It's more about marrying within the community for similar habits, rituals, up bringing etc

Indian upper castes especially Brahmins, are the most casteist, vile bunch of people you'll ever come across, they refuse to treat anyone "below" them as humans

I'll be honest, until I was about 18-19 i wasn't even aware of the different casts. Neither my parents would discuss bringing up these matters. I was the textbook definition of democracy and truly believed the casts don't matter. But then I appeared for competitive exams. I was faced with an unequal playground, ST students whose parents had money could still get a seat by scoring 30% of my marks. While my parents were lower middle/middle class. This was the moment I started despising the system and my hatred of casts developed. Not because there's something wrong with them but because of the zero acknowledgement on their side of the unfair advantage they keep getting. It will hurt some people - but I wasn't born with a hatred for this but the actions of some of these people resulted in this.

Problem is society looks down on them. And that becomes a hindrance.
My friend from middle caste married guy from SC caste. Everything was good during marriage. His family is good educated well settled. But when she visited his village she was made to sit down n eat in different utensil. Not allowed to interact with ppl of upper community. She doesn't want to go there now. But his husband family takes her there every year n this creates a big fight between them.

Everywhere actually, if you haven't seen it then you are among the most privileged of the privileged citizens

Yeah recently in TN a dalit Man was killed for loving a women from upper caste. He was working in TCS with 12 LPA package still got killed.

Casteism is very deeply uprooted in our society most people in online side of India are from privileged households from tier 1 cities they won't see it. Casteism exists in almost every village

Indians are by far the most racist bunch of people, we are racist among ourselves, what else can we expect.

Caste is still a huge problem in India while a certain section of people who have benefited already from previous generations using reservation still abuse the system there are still a large number of people who try using reservation to get out of the shithole they are in.

The main problem however is that despite the reservation and facilities available a large number of SC, ST and OBC candidates are still discriminated wildly against.

Looking for a house on rent? No flat for you Looking for a bride/groom? Nope you're lower than us. Looking to complete a PH.D? Harassed to the highest extent. Get a good job (non-MNC)? Treated like shit Drive a bullet bike? Hands chopped off Twirl a moustache? Killed

Overall, people's mindset is anti-reservation and people think reservation is stealing. But no one tries to make an effort to get rid of the actual problem that is discrimination.

Reservation & Casteism abides together. Could be termed as proportional, reservation does helps some people, but when a person with same capabilities / similar position in society uses reservation that thing creates hinderances / hatred.

You pay same tax as me, still your son / daughter gets reservation even if he got lower marks than mine. 🙃

It’s not society’s fault, these are basically greed for politicians to get votes they can create NCL in other layers as well, but that will cause their votes to get eroded.

On the other hand, everyone love freebies even if upper caste will get something for free they will not deny it.
