Are all your resume points verified with previous employer?

As I plan to start my job search, I wanted to check with the community as to how much can you overstate in resumes about the impact that you created. Is it really verified with the previous employer, and more particularly with your boss? Any particular incidents that happened with you? Please do share. Thanks
