App for your mom
I see my mom struggle with boredom everyday and is on Facebook just browsing through the same old posts. I want to build an app for Indian women , especially homemakers . A safe place where they can talk amongst each other. What do you think of this ? Would be willing to pay 200/month towards membership fee ?

My mum - Watch yt for food recipes ❌ Watch yt for exercise and yoga❌ Read news on Google ❌ Mindless scroll fb stories ✅ I fucking hate it. Facebook has done to our parents what they said watching too much TV would do to us when we were kids. Not to mention all the fake and polarising posts on fb.
Especially the fake and polarizing videos!
I tried doing something but I found many old-age people don't find anything entertaining other than YouTube. Any other kind of content doesn't create a hook. Majority of them don't have the zeal to learn anything new. They just want to do something effortlessly and entertain themselves. YouTube best solves their purpose.
News has been solving this for them from past 4 decades 🗿

Yup...for old age people...it's a must need.
Same holds true for teens which Snapchat is exploiting.
Algorithm should be different for age groups unlike meta and Google
We don't have a cable network, hence mom watches serials on Zee5 and Hotstat. Recently Zee5 moved two of mom's favorite serials to premium category, so you need to pay 700/yr to watch it.
Mom stopped watching those and started watching a new one 👍
They won't spend any extra money.
A great idea is a youtube frontend with custom (or even managed) feed for different genres like kitchen, gardening, jobs, health, devotion. Not sure moms want to talk to other stranger moms.

I see a lot of people post old people won’t pay for the app , my idea was the children would pay for it for better quality content (fact checked) and activities which will prevent them from consuming fake news etc. So the question you as their child would be willing to pay for it ?
@ShipOne01, what's your skillset? I empathize with this problem and I'm sure many children who love their moms will too. I can help with product and marketing.

And yes I'd pay if she gets an alternative to these toxic reels/misinformation. But curating content adds costs and a battle all SMs are facing. It's a struggle between scale and quality.
Nobody would pay a Penny. Ads is the only revenue source. Build something useful for mothers like healthcare app or something.
