Any lawyers in the house? Need legal advice

It has been 1 month since we moved in to this 3BHK. The owner asked for 10 months rent (₹4L) as deposit money and I have given so thinking I will move out in a year’s time.

The contract ends in November this year. If I leave the place in the next couple of months, by law can I demand the whole deposit money back (other than the painting charges)?

Yes, you should. Your advance money is just a guarantee for the owner in an event of non-payment of rent or severe damages to the property. Its not tied to the duration of your stay. they'll deduct 1 month's rent or painting charges depending on whats there in your agreement and should return the rest.
