Successful delivery of ad campaign and sponsorship depends on Views (cumulative views) and Reach (unique viewers).
Final deal value depends on the above, else advertisers demand bonus (both on TV and Digital)
I think you mean 15.8 cr views here! Let me explain what happens in JioCinema. Look, basically, streaming cricket or any sport is a business for the streaming platform as it gets them ads.
For Jio cinema, there is no third party counting those views, like YouTube or TRP for television, so the number can be inflated. This is done to attract more companies to give their advertisements to Jio Cinema so that they can charge more money for the ads.
To be able to do this without raising any questions, Jio Cinema follows a smart practice. Unlike Hotstar, which used to show the number of people currently watching the match, Jio shows how many times someone opened the link to view the match. So if you were watching the match, you left the app to do something and opened it again after 10 minutes, it will count that as 2 views. If you open it in 2 different tabs but only watch it once, it will show 2 views. That is how they reach such inflated numbers.

These views/concurrent viewers are not calculated by a separate organisation unlike TRP ratings/Youtube live viewers counter.
They can create a function which takes various params like overs completed, the required run rate, the current run rate, the batters’ strike rates, timeline of last 10 balls etc., assign weights to each of them and come up with a number which can then be multiplied by some offset to get a value. Seems like proper B.Tech. Project stuff.
Hotstar tech was much better than Jio Cinema. Audience noise is so loud while watching a match on Jio - can’t even hear what the commentator is speaking.
Views v/s Viewers.
It's similar to views on YouTube or any other platforms. Each session would be counted as a view. So, all added up will give this very big number. If I load the page twice, it would be 2 views (if I'm not wrong)

Hotstar manged 6-7cr users. Jio or sports 18 group can't manage even 2cr users.
