There are many instances when we face this question, what is the best reply you can give. Various Answers....

Tell them higher than real package: So you are basically flexing ??
Tell them the exact package: Gives your exact position....
Tell them lower than real package: Undermines you I think....

Also, I think it depends on who is asking..... What answer will you give 🤔

40-50k inr per month is a sweet spot to tell friends and relatives irrespective of how much you earn.

Benefits:

You are not the first person on the list when some relative is in financial crunch and "will return your money in a week"
They compare their lives with yours and they realize that they are doing well/better than you, they are happy, you are happy that they are happy, net positive win.
You can get away with cheap behaviour because you earn less. Idk why people have this tendency and weird judgement behaviour that if you have money, you should donate it. Otherwise you are just a prick.
